Gulshan and Sholakia militant attacks masterminds are also identified.
IGP AKM Shahidul Haque has said police have unearthed the source of arms used in Gulshan and Sholakia attacks. Speaking after inaugurating an academic course at Police Staff College in the capital, he said the masterminds behind the attacks have also been identified and law enforcement agencies are working to arrest them. The police chief said if the families of the six militants killed in the Gulshan attacks do not take their bodies then these will be handed over to Anjuman Mofidul Islam for burial as unclaimed bodies.
The students of Dhaka University have pledged to remain on the streets as in the past to tackle militancy. Participating in a human chain staged at the Dhaka University campus from 11 a.m. to 12 noon they vowed to spread this programme to all educational institutions across the country. Teachers, officials and employees of the university also took part in the human chain. At this time Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique urged all to build up movement against militancy.
The Apex body of businessmen FBCCI would hold an anti-terrorism and militancy conference in Dhaka in the first week of September. Businessmen from across the country, concerned about the resurgence of militancy want to reach the message of peace world over unitedly on that day against the heinous attacks at Gulshan and Sholakia. The businessmen would also highlight the message that there is congenial atmosphere for investment in the country through combating terrorism and militancy. Meanwhile, all the financial institutions including Bangladesh Bank have beefed up security and monitoring measures to tackle terrorism. Experts have advised the clients to be conscious in financial transactions.

The Appellate Division has fixed 24th of August, the date for hearing on the review petition of death row convict Jamaat leader Mir Kashem Ali for crimes against humanity. The five member bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumer Sinha fixed the date. Earlier, the defense sought two months time for preparation but the Attorney General argued that the defense has filed the prayer for procrastination. The International Crimes Tribunal awarded death punishment to Mir Kashem Ali for crimes against humanity in 2014.
Arrest warrant has been issued against nine BNP leaders including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in subversion case filed with Pallabi Police station in the capital. Acting judge of the Metropolitan Session Judge Ruhul Amin gave the order this morning. The other BNP leaders are – Habibun Nabi Sohel, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Bishwas, Azizul Bari Helal, Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel and Syed Ashifa Ashrafi Papia. The case was filed against 17 leaders and workers of BNP on the 27th of January 2015 on charge of subversion. Another BNP leader Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah accused in the case took bail after surrendering in the court.
BNP would observe demonstration programme at Thana level across the country on Wednesday next protesting jail sentence for party Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a news conference at the party central office at Nayapaltan this morning. Earlier the court awarded seven years imprisonment to Tarique Rahman on charge of money laundering.
