Police have information of 44 missing youths in Natore most of whom are aged between 15 to 28. Information were obtained from GDs filed by their families with various police stations and through investigation of the militant attacks at Gulshan and Sholakia. However 16 families did not provide the information to police even after remaining missing. High police officials said they are making intense observation about the militants and preparation of list of those missing is underway.
The University Grants Commission would recommend cancelling registration of those private universities linked with militant activities. Informing this to ATN Bangla, Chairman of UGC Professor Abdul Mannan said observers will be appointed at those universities against whom allegation of irregularities have been received.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said those who did not want independence of the country are involved with various conspiracies including militant attacks at Gulshan and Sholakia. Speaking at the 30th founding anniversary programme of Special Security Force-SSF held at the Prime Minister’s office this morning she called for building resistance against militancy taking people alongside. The Prime Minister hoped that the members of SSF would continue to maintain their highest sense of responsibility in the days ahead. Referring to the recent militant attacks at Gulshan and Sholakia Sheikh Hasina alleged that a certain quarter is tarnishing the image of Islam.
RAB has released video of four suspected people involved with Gulshan attack through Facebook. The video twitted in the Facebook page of RAB online media showed the suspects are walking outside the restaurant while talking on mobile phones. RAB has urged all to inform any battalion or camp of RAB if anybody has any information or identity of them. 20 people including17 foreigners were killed in the attack incident on the 1st of July last. Later all the six attackers were killed in commando attack by the army.
Police have arrested 19 Shibir cadres from Khilgaon in the capital on charge of planning subversion. They were arrested from a mess this afternoon. OC Khilgaon Police Station Kazi Monirul Islam informed that they were holding a meeting with the President and General Secretary of Khilgaon Thana unit and Khilgaon National Ideal School Shibir President. At this time police seized huge quantity of Jehadi books and local weapons from their possession.
Educationists and economists are of the view that the militant attack at Gulshan was carried out to obstruct the development trend of the country. According to them the existing good relations with the development partners could not be spoiled by such attacks. The speakers stated this at the beginning of a weeklong mourning programme at Dhaka University in memory of those killed in the attack. The programme is being conducted by the Japan Study Center of Dhaka University commemorating the seven Japanese nationals killed among the 17 foreigners in the attack at Holey Artisan Bakery at Gulshan. The students and teachers at the protest meeting highlighted the various Japanese help in the development activities of Bangladesh. Later, a mourning procession was brought out at the University Campus.
