Mystery of the attack on Holey Artisan Restaurant unearthed. Apprehending those involved is just a matter of time, say police.
DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia informed that the mystery of Holey Artisan restaurant attack incident has been unearthed. He said, it is a matter of time that those involved with the attack are nabbed. Many suspects are being interrogated. Talking to newsmen at the DMP headquarters Asaduzzaman Mia also said that an evil quarter is trying to create unstable situation by carrying out propaganda. Law enforcing agencies are engaged in curbing militancy through zero tolerance. Those who were directly involved with the militant attack in Holey Artisan Bakery at Gulshan have been killed in Army commando raid. The law enforcers have already began a drive to find out those who are patronising militants after the attack. Counter Terrorism Unit of police have quizzed many suspects. Twenty people including 17 foreign nationals were killed in a militant attack on the 1st of July in Gulshan. After the incident police beefed up security in key installations in the capital including Gulshan.

DB police have detained six people including four female members of JMB from Sirajganj and Nilphamari. They raided a house at Masumpur in Sirajganj this morning on the basis of secret information and detained the four female JMB members along with bomb making materials, cocktails and jehadi books. They are Nadira of Sirajganj, Habiba and Rumana of Bogra and Runa Begum of Gaibandha. DB police presume they gathered at the secret hideout for carrying out subversive activities. Meanwhile, police detained two JMB members from Nilpharami.

ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud has said, money earned through corruption is being used for militancy. He said this while exchanging views with the Editors of print and electronic media at the ACC head office. The discussants suggested formation of a separate cell to monitor bank forgery and militant financing. The view exchange meeting was organised to discuss work strategy of the Anti-Corruption Commission for the next five years. The ACC has fixed eight strategies to tackle corruption. The Editors of electronic and print media highlighted corruption at various levels. Bank forgery and militancy issues also came up for discussion.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the spirit of the independence and Liberation War should be the basic and prime guiding principles for army while this should also be an issue of consideration for the promotion of officers. Addressing Army Headquarters Selection Board-2016 at Dhaka Cantonment, she said the military leadership should be delegated to officers who are patriotic and have faith in the spirit of our Great War of Liberation. Sheikh Hasina, who is also in charge of the Defense Ministry, asked the selection board to take into consideration the officers’ leadership quality, professional competence, field level success, discipline and honesty for promotion.

The court has directed BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to appear before court on the 10th of August in Boropukuria Coal Mine Corruption case. Judge of Dhaka Special Judge court Hosne Ara Begum pronounced the order. Earlier Khaleda Zia’s lawyers filed a time petition informing that Begum Zia could not appear before the court owing to security reason. The court after granting the petition fixed 10th of August as the fresh date. ACC filed case with Shahbag police station on various charges including misappropriation of fund of Dinajpur Boropukuria Coal Mine project.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has urged the teachers to forge social movement against militancy. He also said the anti-independence elements are carrying out terrorist activities by joining various militant organisations. The Home Minister said this at the inaugural function of UCB Public Parliament debate competition at ATN Bangla FDC Studio this morning. Speaking on the occasion ATN Bangla Chairman Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman urged all to be united against militancy. At the inaugural phase of the competition, students of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology and Prime University took part. The topic of the debate jointly organised by ATN Bangla and Debate for Democracy was “Social Awareness Can Combat Militancy”.
