DNA samples of the militants handed over to FBI.

DNA samples of the militants killed in commando raid at Holey Artisan restaurant at Gulshan have been handed over to the representative of US intelligence agency FBI by the counter terrorism unit of police. The US intelligence agency would examine the hair and blood samples to ascertain whether the assailants had taken any special drug before conducting the militant activities. Deputy Commissioner of DMP Mass Media Wing Masudur Rahman said results of the DNA samples would be sent to the counter terrorism unit after examining at high-powered labs of FBI.

The local government ministry is going to start special anti-militancy programme at unions, upazillas, municipalities and city corporations. A national convention is also being convened in Dhaka with public representatives of the local governments. Stating this to ATN Bangla LGRD Minister Engineer Khondokar Mosharraf Hossain said the anti-militancy special rallies of the government would be held in divisional towns from this month. The secretary of the ministry said the month-long anti-militancy social movement would continue with special programmes across the country.

The IG of police A. K. M. Shahidul Haq has claimed that the militant activities have reduced following actions by police and other law enforcing agencies. Talking to newsmen after inaugurating the newly built police complex in Rangamati he urged the people to come forward side by side the law enforcement agencies to build up social movement in rooting out militancy in the country.

Security of the railway has been beefed up apprehending subversion. Alert has been issued in important stations. Stating this to ATN Bangla Railway Minister Mujibul Haq also said extra security arrangements have been taken for the foreign nationals who are working in various railway projects. The minister has urged passengers not to be panicked.

Dead body of 4-year child Sabbir has been recovered from a sewage drain at Mirpur in the capital. Divers of the fire service found his body at around 11 in the morning 19 hours after being missing in the drain behind Dhaka Commerce College. Sabbir fell into the drain yesterday afternoon while playing.

The overall flood situation at different parts of the country has further deteriorated. Many areas of Kurigram, Sirajganj, Jamalpur and Sunamganj have been inundated in floodwaters. Although the River Teesta receded slightly in Nilphamari the erosion is still continuing. As a result thousand of flood victims are facing immense sufferings. Educational and communication systems have crumbled in these areas. Meanwhile, officials of district administrations have informed that cash and relief materials have been distributed among the flood victims. They assured to provide further assistance through supervision.

Bangladesh is to get back at least one and a half crore dollars of the 8 crore 10 lac dollar reserve heist money laundered to Philippines by next month. Giving the assurance the new President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte said his government would provide all sorts of cooperation to Bangladesh in this regard. Bangladesh Ambassador in Manila John Gomez informed this to journalists after an anti-money laundering seminar on Thursday. Though refunding one and a half crore dollars is almost final what would be done about recovering the rest six and a half crore dollars is not still clear.

  1. I love how the two almost transparent petals of the rose in the first photo stick up in the back leading me to believe they are wings of an insect. Perhaps a wasp? I do like the juistpotxaion of the rose and the wasp nest.
